A milestone moment for IHG – 6,000 reasons to celebrate!

In case you hadn’t heard, we’ve hit 6,000 open hotels across the globe and IHG One Rewards is now officially live on-property, so where better to start spreading the news than New York City…

To celebrate surpassing 6,000 open hotels across the globe, IHG Hotels & Resorts has unveiled the “6,000 Club” alongside exciting new multi-year partnerships with leading sports and entertainment events.

Partnerships include Major League Soccer in the US and Canada, European Professional Club Rugby, and some of the biggest music festivals in the US and UK – helping us reach new audiences and giving IHG One Rewards members the chance to redeem points for tickets and enjoy more memorable experiences.  

Marking our 6,000 Club in style, CEO Keith Barr, members of our Executive Committee, local hotel GMs and colleagues were at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday to ring the bell and signal the close of trading, with our IHG Hotels & Resorts masterbrand lighting up giant screens across the trading floor and digital signs being beamed above Times Square and in California’s Silicon Valley throughout June for the whole world to see.

The 6,000 Club
The 6,000 Club features a collection of stunning newly opened hotels from IHG’s iconic portfolio, showcasing the global reach of our 17 brands and the many ways our hotel teams deliver True Hospitality for Good every single day. 

In the coming weeks, we’ll shine a spotlight on some of these properties from around the world right here on Merlin to show how they are celebrating the occasion in style, including Six Senses Fort Barwara, Regent Phu Quoc, Kimpton Margot Sydney, voco The Hague, Atwell Suites Denver Airport and Staybridge Suites Al Khobar City. You can find out more about the 6,000 Club here.

Major League Soccer, European Professional Club Rugby and music festivals, oh my!

With our IHG One Rewards benefits now officially live on-property, we’re excited to also be giving our members more ways to redeem their points. With a shared belief that experiences bring people together, the new partnerships we’re announcing today will connect travelers around the world by creating new ways to redeem IHG One Rewards points for tickets and memorable moments. Highlights include:  
 
The Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Music Midtown, Ohana Festival: While watching live performances, attendees can enjoy exclusive benefits with IHG One Rewards, including backstage access and time in VIP Lounges.  
 
Major League Soccer: With a multi-year agreement as the official hotel sponsor, IHG Hotels & Resorts and MLS are partnering to create unique, enhanced money-can’t-buy experiences exclusively for IHG One Rewards members and MLS fans across the country.  
 
European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR): With the Heineken Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup 2021/2022 tournaments ending in May, under this three-season agreement IHG and EPCR will welcome fans back at the start of the 2022/2023 season beginning this December.  

These partnerships build off IHG Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing multi-year agreement with United States Tennis Association (USTA) as the official hotel and hotel loyalty partner for the US Open Tennis Championships.

Our new campaign 
In what promises to be a huge season of demand across many of our markets, we’re also getting ready to launch our IHG One Rewards global marketing campaign, which will reference our 6,000th hotel milestone. Representing our biggest campaign in more than a decade, our game-changing new loyalty program will be making its presence felt across TV, digital channels, social media and on billboards, airports and more, starting in the coming weeks.
